If you are new to wakeboarding, it can be hard to know what you are looking for, which is why we’re here to help. Choosing the right wakeboard should not be based on the graphic on the top sheet, but should accommodate your preferred style of riding. Beginner or advanced wakeboarder, we can give you advice to find the right board that fits you and your riding style. You can use our wakeboard buying guides on our blog to work out which boards will help you progress in your preferred area, whether you are a beginner boat rider, advanced park shredder, or like doing a bit of both.

If you can’t find what you’re after, or still have questions, give us a call at The Board Basement - we love wakeboarding and are keen to help!

Wakeboard bindings are the second crucial part of your set-up alongside your wakeboard itself. The two should work together to give you the best riding experience possible, complementing the natural flex or stiffness of your wakeboard. Open toed bindings are convenient and affordable, with greater versatility in size range allowing you to share with family or friends for group sets. Closed toe bindings are tailored to more specific sizes, so will suit the more serious rider who wants to push their wakeboarding, both behind the boat or in the park. Use our wakeboard binding buyers guide located on our blog to identify which binding best suits your style of riding, or give us a call for a chat about wakeboarding!

Impact vests are an absolute essential in park wakeboarding, with many cable parks requiring you to wear them in order to ride. Unlike life-jackets, the purpose of an impact vest is not buoyancy, but protection from impact on obstacles or the water. Wakepark obstacles are made out of hard plastic, which is not fun to fall onto at speed. Wearing the right protection can prevent injury and keep you having fun on the water. Equally, behind the boat, an impact vest can protect your chest and back from falls, whether you’re boosting tricks off the wake or just cruising along.

Wakeboard specific helmets are a necessity in park wakeboarding, and at most cable parks you will be required to wear one in order to ride safely. Hitting obstacles in the park is one of the best things about wakeboarding, but it can also present a risk if you’re not adequately protected. The hard plastic that jumps, rails and boxes are made from does not want to meet your head quickly. A well-fitted helmet can prevent potentially serious injury, with specialised construction and foam protecting your head to keep you shredding safely. It’s a no-brainer!

Clever wakeboarding accessories that will make your wakeboarding adventure a little bit easier. Fit yourself out with a snuggly changing robe, allowing you to change either on the boat, beach or at the cable park without struggling with a towel. If you’re feeling particularly rinsed after your session, they’re also the perfect lazy wear for the drive home, keeping you warm and dry with minimal effort involved. We stock cosy towel robes, alongside higher tech, fleece-lined waterproof varieties to keep you dry in the drizzle, or protect car seats from wet board shorts on the way home.

When you are wakeboarding, it is very important that you have freedom of movement as you are constantly changing your body position. A wetsuit should be so comfortable and without movement limitations that you hardly know you’re wearing it. Wetsuit thickness, materials and strategic stitching that allows for freedom of movement are important factors when choosing a wetsuit that fits you perfectly. At The Board Basement, you will find different wetsuits from shorties to full suits.

If you want to style up your wakeboarding look and protect you from the sun, we also stock neoprene riding hoodies and rash vests. These are great for adding an extra layer of warmth over your wetsuit in the winter for chilly UK wakeboarding. Alternatively, wear them over your impact vest with board shorts in the summer for a stylish but warm wakeboarding look.
